Beginnings always seem like the hardest things. Where does one start, how is a introduction introduced? For me it is the beginning that causes the most distress. I will stare at a blank sheet of paper trying to find the right first word. While in this frozen state my mind will wander on to the rest of the story, scenes will play out, characters form all while I have yet to write one letter. The feeling is much like the cart racing off before the horse has even been born.Anyway, my name is J. E. Alan and I am a writer. I have been writing ever since I could string words into a sentence. Unfortunately I have never pushed myself publish any of my work. I have created and killed dozens of stories and thousands of pages with the thought that all of it was just for fun and not worth putting any serious time into it. This has changed. I can't say what pushed me to try to get published; maybe its because the false passion I had for my current career has faded (more on that later), or maybe I have matured enough to want to finish a project. I don't know what, but something is driving me to continue my work, hopefully to a fruitful end.
This want, this drive is the impetus for creating this blog. I don't plan on putting any of my manuscript online. Instead I will use this blog as a sounding board for my frustrations. I will also use it for writing practice. I welcome anyone who reads this to give me their opinions, especially on my prose as that is the main purpose of this blog.
