If you haven't seen it yet, you've been under a rock (or actually doing something productive), but the latest viral video craze to hit the web is a clip from a 1928 Charlie Chaplin film called The Circus. No, the public hasn't suddenly decided to gain an appreciation for classic film history (that might actually be construed as productive). It seems that a sharp-eyed viewer named George Clarke spotted something (supposedly) inexplicable in a clip from the nearly 80 year-old film that has set the media buzzing.
As you can see in this video, which has already garnered almost two million views as of this writing, a woman walks past the camera while holding an object to her ear that appears to be a cellular phone, over half a century before the devices were invented. So, naturally, there can only be one explanation, right? She's a time traveler - caught on film!
Or not.
While it does appear that the woman in question is holding a vaguely phone-shaped object to her ear & speaking into it, it is situations like this where a wee bit of skepticism & critical thinking come in handy.
